The delivery processes of a SMARTE EAST construction projects has been developed from the principles of PRINCE2 and NEC3 Suite of Contracts. These procedures are proven to provide continuous improvement within public sector framework agreements and the preferred procurement route of the Office of Government Commerce.
Central to this philosophy is gateway control points: by identifying appropriate stages of work throughout the project or programme lifecycle gateways examine service implementation against a predetermined set of deliverables and confirm the operational benefits.
The SMARTE EAST Gateway process provides assurance and support for Client Officers in discharging their responsibilities to achieve their business aims. SMARTE EAST has found that the basis of a successful project is a creation of a clear set of parameters against which the project is monitored and managed. Our Clients are encouraged to develop robust business cases and feasibility studies and SMARTE EAST will provide all the necessary assistance to ensure that the scope of the brief identifies realistic objectives.
Early Contractor involvement is also fundamental to this process. Contractors are encouraged to provide advice on buildability, risks and construction constraints and prepare initial programme and package breakdown. By removing these uncertainties SMARTE EAST can deliver projects on time, on budget and to an exceptional quality.
Gateway control points also offer SMARTE EAST the opportunity to continually review and monitor the progress of a project against a defined set of KPIs. This system of continuous review allows SMARTE EAST Project Managers to recognise and identify areas where improvement can be made. This could be around programme, benchmark costs or communications.
SMARTE EAST encourages regular best practice communications sessions with design teams and contractors to share learning. |
